My Journey
(Ave)Maria Suarez
To me, yoga was always about the practice, not making money. I wanted to delve deeper into my personal study and to help people with my yoga -- but I wasn’t looking for financial gain.
Then I met the mothers at Family Promise, the only organization in Bergen County dedicated to providing shelter and support to homeless, working women and their children.
These women lead extremely stressful lives. I began volunteering with the organization as a wellness instructor, providing yoga, meditation and breathing exercises to help these mothers.
But I wanted to do more. That’s where SEVA POP-UP YOGA comes in. It’s my yoga studio without a studio. SEVA pops up in different locations and provides low-cost yoga classes to the general public. The best part: 100% of all proceeds will be donated to Family Promise, giving my students the opportunity to take care of others while they take care of themselves.
